New Sponsorship Deal for Swansea City FC

Swansea City Football Club tie up a substantial sponsorship deal with award-winning online casino operator 32Red.

32Red Plc and Swansea City FC announced today a partnership that will see the award-winning online gaming firm become the South Wales club’s official shirt and gaming sponsors.

The two-year sponsorship deal will see the 32Red.com logo placed on the front of the Swans’ home and away shirts, while the Gibraltar-based company will also become the club’s official online gaming partner.

The deal also reverses the current trend where an increasing number of professional clubs are failing to secure shirt sponsorship in today’s difficult financial climate. Swansea City’s vice-chairman, Leigh Dineen, was delighted to secure 32Red Casino as club sponsor, especially as 32Red’s previous shirt deal was with Premier League Club Aston Villa.

“It shows how far the club has come,’’ explained Dineen. “32Red were talking to a number of other football clubs, including some in the Premiership, about shirt sponsorship; but we are delighted to become their chosen partners in football. We are now a Championship club with a Premiership sponsor – and that’s something we are very proud of.”

Dineen added, “It was also encouraging to see a number of companies express an interest in becoming our main sponsor. There were some very interesting discussions over the course of last season, but 32Red was without doubt the best deal for us. It is a modern company with global reach; has pro-active ideas and will help us spread the Swans message to the international stage. We are really excited about working with them and I’m sure we will make a great team.’’

The deal also represents an exciting and potentially lucrative opportunity for the club to share revenue drawn from 32Red’s online casino, poker and betting services. The club will be announcing some exciting initiatives on this link for its official website and supporters’ on July 1.

Ed Ware, CEO of 32Red, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Swansea City, one of the most exciting clubs in the Championship. Swansea has become a highly progressive team over recent seasons and we are looking forward to an exciting time as the club’s main sponsor.”

“The deal means we will once again raise our profile throughout the UK by becoming part of the football scene. And, thanks to the increased media coverage of the Championship, we expect our tie up with the Swans to deliver significant interest in our award-winning online casino ( http://www.32red.com) .”

The sponsorship deal was facilitated with the help of Jim White and his commercial consultancy company, The Changing Face, and David Little of Magrath and Co in London. Both are avid Swans fans.

Setanta Cup Set For New Sponsor

-Paddy Power betting on New Setanta Cup Sponsor-

Today’s news that the Setanta Cup draw, due to be held in Dublin on Thursday, has been postponed, places RTE as the 11/8 favourite with Paddy Power to replace, money troubled, Setanta Sports as the main sponsor of the Cup. The struggling sports channel is on the verge of administration, and with the SPL actively selling their domestic broadcasting rights, after Setanta were unable to make outstanding payments, it looks likely that the cup’s sponsor will be certain to be up for grabs.

Along with RTE, the other contenders in the running according to the Bookie include second favourites TV3 at 6/4, BBCNI at 5/1, Sky at 6/1, UTV at 10/1 and TG4, outsiders, at 20/1.

With the sponsorship pulled there is always a worry that the Cup won’t take place this year and Paddy Power is betting 5/4 that it won’t, but the good news for all football fans is that the bookie is betting at 4/7 that the cup will take place, an odd’s on favourite shot.

Patrick Tohill, spokesperson for Paddy Power, said; ‘With the cup involving teams from both sides of the border, it wouldn’t be surprising if the BBC or UTV picked up the pieces of the whole Setanta mess, but who’s to know if anyone will be interested in spending money on it at these tough times, and no sponsor could mean no cup. This year at least.’

OWEN 5/1 TO TURN TIGER

Paddy Power is offering 5/1 that Michael Owen plays for Hull City next season following confirmation he will leave relegated Newcastle this summer.

Phil Brown’s public courting of Owen over the weekend has put Hull in as second favourites to sign Owen in Paddy Power’s betting behind 2/1 favourites Everton.

Also in the running are Spurs at 6/1 with Man City and Aston Villa both at 7/1.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “Hull isn’t quite the destination Michael Owen’s advisors imagined when they sent out their glossy brochure but as they are the only club so far to have publicly expressed any serious interest they have to be a contender in the betting.”

PADDY POWER’S NEW FOOTBALL SEASON BETTING

Bookie Paddy Power has issued betting for the first day of the football season with champions Manchester United once again the team to beat.

Despite losing £80million man Ronaldo champions Man United are again title favourites at 7/5. Fergie’s boys are 1/5 to win their first fixture against Birmingham with Alex McLeish’s side 14/1 for an opening day upset. However the champion’s first big test will come on August 29th when they meet Arsenal and Paddy Power are offering 4/5 on United with an Arsenal win at Old Trafford 13/8 and the draw 11/5.

Carlos Ancelotti’s first game for Chelsea is against Hull and he’s 1/5 to open with the full three points and 12/5 to win the title. Last season’s runner-up Liverpool are 3/1 for the long awaited title trophy.

Burnley, this season’s minnows in the big league, are 4/7 favourites for relegation but will be looking to do a Hull City and catch everyone off their guard with a few early season surprises. Owen Coyle’s side face last year’s relegation fancies Stoke City who Paddy Power incorrectly paid out on for the drop last season. Which of these two teams will Paddy Power be paying out on first this time round? Burnley are 10/3 to win their first game in the Premier League with Stoke’s strong home record making them the 5/6 favourites.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said; “It’s as you were for the Big Four in the early betting but early punters fancy this to be a real shake up season. More early money is going on teams to break the Big Four monopoly than we’ve ever seen before at the fixtures day point of the off season.”

Outside of the Premier League Newcastle are the 9/2 favourites for The Championship followed by fellow relegation victims West Brom and Middlesbrough at 11/2 and 13/2. Leeds are 3/1 favourites for League One with Rotherham the 7/1 market leaders in League Two.

RONALDO BETTING

- Punters Caught On The ‘Ron in Cristiano Transfer Betting -

Punters and pundits alike were caught out today by Ronaldo’s sudden world record transfer to Real Madrid but Paddy Power has responded with a number of Ronaldo betting specials to mark the £80million occasion.

Punters Caught On The Ron

As Paddy Power’s Ronaldo Transfer tracker shows, the sudden announcement this morning caught punters by surprise. The long-running betting on Ronaldo’s transfer had seen Real Madrid touch on favourites a couple of times over the last 18 months – the most recent being shortly after his substitution tantrum against Manchester City when a move to Real came into 5/6.

But in recent days United had been fully expected to keep Ronaldo’s services for another year not least following such words from the man himself on Sky Sports. Punters were still backing Ronaldo to stay at Man United last night at 8/15 with a Madrid move at 6/4.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “Everyone expected Ronaldo to join Madrid sometime – but no one saw it coming today. It’s unusual these days for a big transfer not to be leaked but perhaps the speed of events was too quick for punters to capitalise.”

Shirt Number Stakes

Paddy Power has installed Real Madrid’s number nine shirt as the 11/10 favourite to be the Portu-geezer’s squad number at his new home.

Having long worn the number seven shirt at United Ronaldo is 4/1 to be given the number at Real. Although with Raul loathe to relinquish his number ion previous seasons Ronaldo may have to follow David Beckham’s path to the number 23 shirt at 10/1, the same price as the number ten.

Ronaldo is 10/3 to be the top La Liga scorer next season with Real Madrid cut from 13/8 to 6/4 to be domestic champions and from 8s to 7s to be champions of Europe.

No Change for Champions

As for United, Ronaldo’s departure has had no impact on their chances next season. Paddy Power are unmoved on United’s Premier and Champions League odds at 5/4 and 11/2, respectively. However Wigan’s Antonio Valencia is the 7/2 favourite to be their first summer signing whilst a transfer fee of between £30 million and £40 million is the 6/4 favourite to be United’s biggest fee paid for a player this summer.

Darren Haines commented: “Life goes on at Old Trafford and the biog names have been and gone before. With £80 million burning in his pocket Fergie shouldn’t have much problem in maintaining the Champions dominance.”

Ronaldo’s former team mates at United have barely got a sniff of any dead ball opportunities in recent seasons but who will line up to take the champion’s first penalty now the Portu-geezer has left? Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov are the 9/2 joint favourite’s despite the Bulgarian being a 12 yard choker last season.

UNITED’S FIRST SIGNING after SALE of RONALDO

Finally Ronaldo has made the move to Real Madrid and ended the long running transfer saga – but with £80million burning a hole in his pocket how is Sir Alex Ferguson going to spend the money he picks up from the world record transfer?

Paddy Power’s betting on Manchester United’s first signing is led by several tricky wingers as Fergie looks to fill Ronaldo’s boots with a like-for-like player. Wigan’s Antonio Valencia is the 7/2 favourite followed by Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery at 9/2.

David Villa, one of the most wanted men in world football is 7/1 whilst the big names of United’s rivals also make the running. Man City’s Robinho is 25/1 with Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard the 80/1 outsider. David Beckham may be a wide man but at 50/1 is unlikely to make an emotional return.
